Meet the Staff: Jason J. Gauvin, PT Gary E. Johnson, LAT, ATC
Jason J. Gauvin, PT, MS, LAT, ATC, SCS, CSCSJason J. Gauvin, PT, MS, LAT, ATC, SCS, CSCS is the owner and President of Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center. He was a former senior level II sports physical therapist at Duke University Sports Medicine Physical Therapy in Durham, North Carolina. Jason currently is responsible for day to day operations of Athletic Advantage, Inc. specifically daily patient care, including community, high school, collegiate and professional athletes. Jason specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries to the knee, shoulder and ankle, including the prevention of athletic injuries. Mr. Gauvin is active in lecturing nationally on topics related to orthopedic and sports physical therapy and has published a case study, numerous articles, and contributed to several textbooks in the area of sports physical therapy.
Jason received his Master's of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Springfield College. He completed a sports physical therapy fellowship at Duke University Sports Medicine Physical Therapy in 2000. He is certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists and has his certification as both an athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist. He is the former Director of Rehabilitation for the department of Athletics at Stanford University. Jason recently completed a two consecutive terms as the chairman of the knee special interest group of the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the APTA.
Gary E. Johnson, LAT, ATCGary E. Johnson, LAT, ATC is an athletic trainer and physical therapy aide at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center. Gary is responsible for developing group exercise sessions and managing the monthly fitness program, a voluntary gym-like membership for patients and clients who want to work out in the comforts of a caring facility with immediate access to physical therapy and athletic training. In May 2007 Gary graduated from North Carolina Central University (Go Eagles!) with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Athletic Training. Gary strove for, and achieved, scholastic excellence during his undergraduate years with the NCCU Eagles, while balancing academics, internships and employment. As a Fitness Instructor at UNC Wellness Center, Mr. Johnson provided therapeutic exercises for debilitated members and supervised the Fitness Floor. Gary is no stranger to top quality care, having received the recognition of "Delivery of Outstanding Service Star Performance" for professionalism and keeping with the highest standards of the UNC Healthcare System. Mr. Johnson's growing career includes membership in the NATA (National Athletic Training Association) and AAHPERD (American Alliance of Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance). |
